Why Nomo exists

I built Nomo for my husband, a tradie who kept nothing.

He’s always at Bunnings or Total Tools. Kept none of the receipts, counted none of the kilometres. Then every July, we’d sit there trying to remember everything from the year before. I thought, this is ridiculous. There has to be a better way.

01Is Nomo made for Australian tax?

Yes — it’s the whole point. ATO categories, the fixed-rate work-from-home method, cents-per-km and logbook methods for vehicles. Right now Nomo is a record-keeping tool, not a registered tax agent: it gets your deductions tax-ready to hand to your accountant or type into myGov. Lodging straight from the app is on the way.

02Do I need to connect my bank account?

No. You can scan receipts and add expenses by hand. A read only bank feed for on demand classification is still being built, and it will always be optional.

03What happens after the 14-day trial?

Current subscription options and prices are shown when web subscriptions are available. The trial needs no card and does not charge automatically.

04Is my data private?

Yes. Receipts and bank feeds are encrypted, and we never sell your data. You can export everything and delete your account from the app at any time.

05Do I need accounting knowledge?

None. The categories, methods and ATO rates are filled in for you. You mostly just point the camera and keep going. About eight seconds per receipt.

06What happens at tax time?

Open the reports tab and hit export. A clean, ATO-categorised PDF or CSV you can keep, hand to your accountant, or use to fill in myGov yourself.
